Kurunegala YCC will look to create another major upset when they take on Army CC in the SLC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament semi-final encounter at the NCC Grounds in Maitland Place today.
Kurunegala YCC are brimming with confidence after having knocked out the more fancied NCC team by 63 runs in the quarter-finals played on Tuesday at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo.
In contrast, Army CC had a close call in their quarter-final as they edged out Negombo CC by six runs at the CCC Grounds and will be under pressure to keep their reputation.
Kurunegala YCC will bank on their bowlers to deliver the goods once again with Ruvin Peiris, Randeera Ranasinghe and Naveen Gunawardena capable of running through the innings.
Their batting will be in the hands of Gayan Maneeshan who hammered a match-winning half century in the quarter-finals to emerge as the leading run-getter so far in the tournament.
Meanwhile, a rousing game is on the cards when the heavyweights CCC confront the SSC in the first semi-final encounter at the same venue.
Both teams were ruthless in their respective quarter-finals as the SSC outplayed Colts CC by six wickets while CCC had the better of Ragama CC by 57 runs.
