
Kirulapone United FC emerged champions by beating challengers FC 2-Nil in the Colombo football League Division II final conducted by the Colombo Football League at the Moragasmulla grounds recently.
Two goals were scored by the match winner Ravindu Madushanka in the first half. However, the second half proved to be a goal-less affair, both teams tried hard to score - but all efforts were foiled by the good defensive tactics both sides.
With this victory Kirulapone United FC is promoted to all-island second division and also has qualified to the F.A. Cup competition, both conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL).
Kirulapone United also had another honour when their star player Ravindu Madushanka was adjudged the Best Player of the final and their goal keeper Ishrath Raji won the Best Goal keeper award who saved a penalty in the second half, just five minutes before the final whistle.
For the winners Pradeep Dinesh (Captain), Shalik Khan, D.K Piyankara, Shiyam Brantha and Suren Rio performed well.
The Kirulapone United team is coached by L.K Priyantha.
