Kandy Garden Club situated around the Lake is not functioning for the last three months and tennis players of the club are unable to practice and this situation has badly effected more than 140 young tennis players who practice daily. Due to this they will not be able to participate at the forthcoming Open Tennis Tournaments. At the same time the club is not in a position to organize its annual Tournaments.
There are over 230 members and they come to the club to relax and for recreations. Mostly the Senior Citizens visit the club to enjoy by playing Billiards, Snooker and Table Tennis after a hard day’s work. An official of the club told the writer that they have already applied for the renewal of the Lease of the Club to the A.G.A. Gangawata Korale and the Land Commissioner. The club has to pay the salaries of the employees too.
