The seven-year T20 International cricket bowling record belonging to Sri Lankan left arm spinner Rangana Herath was broken during the T20 international match between Australia and New Zealand in Wellington this week.
During the third T20 international match of the series, Australian left arm spinner Ashton Agar (Son of a Sri Lankan mother - Sonia Hewavissa) took six wickets for 30 runs thus helping his team to a consolation win. With that, he became the first left arm spinner to take six wickets in a T20 international innings.
Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath held the record for the most wickets taken by a left arm spinner in a T20I innings, when he took five wickets for just three runs during Sri Lanka’s famous win against New Zealand in the quarter- finals of the 2014 - T20 World Cup.
