
Ratnam Playground was buzzing with activity on Sunday the 28th February, when Aluthkade Youth in collaboration with Alliance for Muslim Rights conducted the 8th Annual football tournament for the China-Sri Lanka Friendship Trophy. Battaramulla Veterans clinched the handsome trophy with prize money of rupees one and half lakhs. Super Stars emerged runners up and took away Rs.75,000 as prize money. Maligawatte Veterans and Old Petersons were placed third and fourth respectively with prize money of Rs.40,000 and Rs.20,000
Krishantha of Super Stars was adjudged the Man of the Tournament, Best Goal Keeper’s Award went to Anthony of Super Stars and Man of the Match was the Cricketer turned football player Graham Labrooy of Battaramulla Veterans. The opening ceremony was attended by the Superintendant of Police Kotahena and the football legend Rumy.
The Awards Presentation ceremony was handled by distinguished guest namely Deputy Mayor Iqbal, US Tiles Chairman Jaufer, President of Organising Committee M Miflal, General Secretary Rhumy Amith, MMC Muzammil, Sports Committee Chairman MMC Naufel, and MMC Kaleel Rahuman.
