Anika cruises into Colombo Open semi-finals

Anika Seneviratne powered her way into the semi-finals of the Women’s Singles with a convincing win on the fifth day of the Colombo Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

The favourite for the title was in excellent form as she outplayed her opponent Sethmi Sumanaweera in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 to secure her place in the semi-finals.

The results

Men’s Singles (quarter-finals): Luca Knese beat Savith Weerasinghe 6-4, 6-2. Thehan Wijemanna beat Chathurya Nilaweera 7-6 (4), 6-4. Dumindu Dilum beat K. Vairavanathan 6-0, 6-3.

Women’s Signals (quarter-finals): Anika Seneviratne beat Sethmi Sumanaweera 6-1, 6-1. Oneli Perera beat Alana Seneviratne 6-1, 6-1. Savini Jayasuriya beat Neyara Weerawansa 6-4, 6-1. Janali Manamperi beat Saajida Razick 6-1, 6-1, 6-2. (A.N)
