Yasitha and Anika bag singles titles at Tennis Nationals

Yasitha de Silva and Anika Seneviratne bagged the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively at the Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals 2020 played at the SLTA hard courts yesterday.

Yasitha de Silva beat Sharmal Dissanayake in the first set with a close 7-6 win in a tie breaker as Sharmal withdrew in the second set after incurring an injury, which gave Yasitha to claim his first Tennis National title.

Meanwhile, in the women’s final Anika Seneviratne had the better of Janali Manamperi as she won the game with a two sets to nil. Anika won the National singles title for the second time as she won the crown previously in 2018.

The men’s singles challenge trophy was handed over by Iqbal Bin Issack, President Sri Lanka Tennis Association while the women’s challenge trophy was handed over by Bri. Shiran Abeysekera, Vice President of Sri Lanka Tennis Association.

Men’s singles - Yasitha de Silva and Anika Seneviratne 7-6(3)

Women's singles- Anika Seneviratne beat Janali Manamperi 6-0, 6-4. (AN)
