Shehan Jayasuriya retires from cricket

Sri Lankan National cricketer Shehan Jayasuriya, who represented the country in both ODI and T20’s formats, has decided to quit all forms of cricket and will not be available for the selection in domestic or international cricket tournaments with immediate effect. He informed his decision officially to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday.

The 29-year old prolific all-rounder has taken this decision as he will be migrating to the United States of America with his family for permanent settlement.

A product of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, he has represented the country at twelve one-dayers and eighteen T-20 matches while making his one-day debut in 2015 against West Indies at the R. Premadasa Stadium, while his T-20 debut was against Pakistan the same year at the same venue. He also represented the country in the under-19 and under-23 teams before he was selected for the National side.

Whilst announcing his decision, Shehan thanked Sri Lanka Cricket for the opportunities provided to him, during his time as a national player. - (A.N.)
