Sharmal, Yasitha and Chathurya enter semis

Sharmal Dissanayake, Yasitha de Silva and Chathurya Nilaweera secured their place in the Men’s Singles semi-finals after recording wins on day-four of the Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals 2020, continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

Dissanayake defeated Kavisha Ratnayake 6-2, 6-3 while de Silva had the better of Dilvan Herath 6-2, 6-1 respectively.

However, Chathurya went through some real anxious moments before overcoming Vibudu Vijebandara in another quarter-final match.

In the Women’s Single Anika Seneviratne, Tuvini de Alwis, Savini Jayasuirya and Oneli Perera entered the quarter-finals after registering wins in their respective matches.

Results:

(Men’s Open quarter-finals): Sharmal Dissanayake beat Kavisha Ratnayake 6-2, 6-3, Yasitha de Silva beat Dilvan Herath 6-2, 6-1, Chathurya Nilaweera beat Vibuda Vijebandara 7-6(4), 7-6(3).

(Men’s Open third round): Savith Weerasinghe beat Ruwan Fernando 6-2, 6-0, Sanka Athukorala beat Rukmal Cooray 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.

(Women’s Open third round): Oneli Perera beat Neyara Weerawansa 4-6, 6-3, 10-5, Nishka Vivekanandan beat Alana Seneviratne 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. (AN)
