
Lakshitha Rasanjana the former skipper of Nalanda College Colombo turned in a fine all round performance in the Premier Club Cricket season of 2019/20.
Lakshitha Rasanjana left hand batsman and right arm off spinner of Negombo CC scored 275 runs and claimed 38 wickets for 908 runs in nine matches in the last premier season.
Lakshitha Rasanjana Manasinghe was born on 21st of November in 1999 in Colombo. He attended Madduma Bandara Kanishta Vidyalaya Weliweriya 2005. He was Games captain in the school. He passed the Grade 5 scholarship exam in 2009. and joined Henegama Central in 2010. He started school Cricket under his first coach Rohan Pushpasiri in 2010. He represented under 13 teams from 2010-2012. He scored more than 300 runs with two fifties in 2011. They qualified to the quarter final in division III tournament. He led the school under 13 team in 2012. He scored more than 700 runs with five centuries in the same year under the guidance of Satyajit Kularatne principal of the Henegama Central College
He joined Nalanda College Colombo in 2013. He scored more than 250 runs and claimed 12 wickets under the guidance of coach Imal Boteju He scored more than 350 runs and claimed 21 wickets in 2014. Nalanda College Colombo advanced to the semi finals in the same year.
Lakshitha represented the college first XI team as a fresher in the season of 2014/2015 under the coach Sampath Hettiarachchi . . He scored more than 250 runs and claimed 18 wickets. He scored more than 250 runs and claimed 15 wickets in the under 17 tournament in 2015. He scored over 300 runs with a fifty and claimed 22 wickets in the first XI season of 2015/2016.
He led the college under 17 team in 2016. He scored more than 250 runs and claimed 27 wickets. He represented Western Province North team guided by Jeewantha Kulathunge, and Carman Mapatuna, in the Under 19 Super Province tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. He amassed more than 750 runs with three half centuries and claimed 42 wickets as vice captain in the season of 2016/2017.
Lakshitha led the college under 19 team in the season of 2017/2018. He scored more than 850 runs with a century and three fifties and claimed 56 wickets in the season. Nalanda College advanced to the quarter finals in the same season.
5th year colorsman Lakshitha got a rare chance to lead Nalanda College under 19 team for the second successive year in the season of 2018/2019. He passed the 1000 run milestone in the same season. He scored 1310 runs with 4 centuries and 5 half centuries. He claimed 75 wickets with 5 five wicket hauls and a ten wicket haul in his last schools Cricket season.
He represented the Under 19 Sri Lanka team in 2018 under the coach Upul Chandana. He claimed only six wickets in four Youth ODI matches against India.
Lakshitha passed the O/L exam with 5 A’s and 3 B’s in 2016. He passed the Advanced Level exam in the Commerce stream in 2018.
Laskhitha was adjudged schoolboy cricketer of the year and best all-rounder (Division One) in the 41st Mobitel Sunday Observer award ceremony in 2019.
He was adjudged outstanding school sports personality of the year 2019 in the SLT Silk Awards.
He was the skipper of the best behaved team in the 40th Mobitel Sunday Observer awards ceremony in 2018.
He was the outstanding cricketer in the School in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and won the Anura Ranasinghe memorial trophy. He was the best batsman in the Sanga - Mahela trophy match between Nalanda and Trinity in 2018.
He was picked as the man of the final in 2015 and best batsman in 2017 in the annual Henry Steel Olcott schools Cricket tournament involving eight Buddhist schools.
He was awarded best fielder of the match in the 87th Battle of the Maroons and made a century and picked as the best batsman and man of the match in the 88th Battle of the Maroons in 2017. He was the man of the match in the 89th Battle of the Maroons. Laksitha was adjudged best batsman in 42nd One day encounter and best bowler in 44th one day encounter against Ananda College.
He led the Colombo District under 19 team in 2018 and he was a member of the Western Province North under 19 team. Schoolboy Lakshitha represented Western province under 23 team.
Schoolboy Lakshitha represented Lankan CC in the Premier club tournament in the 2018/19 season. He represented CCC under coaches Tharanga Dhammika and Kelum Gangodavila in the under 23 season in 2019. . He represented Negombo CC under coaches Channa Fernando and Nuwan Ruchira in the Premier club season in 2019/20. He represented SSC in the Premier 23 season 2020/21. Laksitha was selected to the Sri Lanka emerging squad in 2020. He claimed 45 wickets in two Premier seasons so far. He represented SSC and claimed only 8 wickets in the Premier Under 23 One day tournament in 2020/2021.
