Kiran Vairavanathan clinched the Boys’ Under-16 Singles title at the Sri Lanka National Tennis Championships, which continued at the SLTA courts in Green Path yesterday.
The schoolboy from British School, Colombo rallied around magnificently to beat Jaitra De Saram in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in the final encounter.
Meanwhile, Dinara de Silva of St. Bridget’s Convent and Dulkini Ranasinghe of Visakha Vidyalaya, set up a final clash in the Girls’ Under-12 Singles event when they won their respective semi-finals.
Dinara defeated Arushi Thomas 7-5 6-2 in the first semi-final while Dulkini had the better of Binudi Wijayawardane 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the second semi-final. (A.N)
