Kandy District cricket tournament will resume soon after the corona virus pandemic. The inter club one day tournament was halted half way. Now they have decided to restart, after the clearance from the Sports Ministry. The corona virus lockdown has hit Kandy’s club cricket at all levels, They were gearing up to continue the matches where they stopped half way. The MOH has still to give the greenlight to start. There has been no major action in any form for a few months, the longest gap between matches.
This tournament gave a boost to local talent by giving them an excellent opportunity to play good cricket under the guidance of seasoned players. This one-day cricket championship saw thirty teams in action and good cricket was played and was halted due to the present problem.
The tournament started on 20th August The teams which are taking part are Kandy Cricket Club , Old Trinitians SC, Old Antonians, Kandy Youth CC, Old Rajans SC, Madawala CC, Galagedera CC, Prisons RC, Old Sylvestrians SC, Ekamuthu SC, Visuvious SC, Saracens CC, Gampola CC, Southerland SC, Liverpool SC, Zelinicans SC, Blue Universal SC, Kandy Bloomfield SC, Old Zahirians SC, Blackgale SC, Bahuvanns SC, Onslaught CC, Kandy Academy CC,University Staff SC, Madawela United CC, Kandy Doctors CC, Kotmale CC , University SC and Galhinna CC .
