Kandy District Cricket Association (KDCA) which has a long association with the sport of cricket has moved out of Asgiriya Stadium. The new office is located in a building at 145/1/1 E.L. Senanayake Veediya,earlier known as Katugodella Veediya, . The office at Asgiriya became permanent for KDCA when Thilanga Sumathipala was the President of Sri Lanka Cricket, and this office was helpful to KDCA when test matches and one day matches were played at Asgiriya stadium.
Kandy District Cricket Association is the governing body of cricket in Kandy. It was established many years back to promote cricket. Now its current headquarters is in Kandy’s main town. Till they put up the planned office at Katugastota, for which Sri Lanka Cricket is sure to give a helping hand. the president of KDCA Roland Perera a top cricket promoter with his able committee will be having their meetings and office work at this new office.
KDCA is the administrator of Kandy’s men’s and women’s teams as well as several youth teams at various age groups at club level. In addition they run several grassroot level development programmes and tournament across the Kandy city. They are representatives of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Kandy DCA ex-co who work as one family, has got a good chance to give the game the necessary support Sri Lanka Cricket has helped in a big way to get the new office, where Roland Perera was instrumental.in finding the place and CPCA and Kandy DCA Secretary Janaka Pathirane gave his maximum support to make this a reality. KDCA have confirmed that their postponed one day tournament for clubs will take place soon.
