Six members including soccer coach Athambawa Mohamed Jafran have been selected as Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) Referees for the year 2021 at the annual referee selection of the FIFA.
A keen soccer player from his childhood Jafran of Kalmunai has brought fame to Ampara District and the Island.
He began his career as a referee in 2010 at the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) Grade- III exam. He was promoted to grade –II
referee in 2012 and Grade –I in 2017.
It is noteworthy to mention that he has proved himself twice at Champion League held in Republic of Maldives, ha has performed well at national and local soccer matches.
