Himashi Kodituwakku, an old girl of Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy is presently representing Kandy District Women’s Cricket team along with Shini Senaratne and Udara Bandara but due to Covid – 19 epidemic the practices are at a standstill.
Himashi started her cricket career at Mahamaya as an all rounder under Samadhi Ratnayake in 2013 and in her first match against Kandy Cricket & Athletic Academy she had an all round performance claiming 4 wickets for 25 runs and scoring an unbeaten knock of 40 runs which helped the School team to win the game and that made her permanent in the cricket team. She is a left arm leg spinner and a right hand bat. Himashi came up with a better performance in 2014 & 2015 when she became the Best all rounder in the team under Udara Bandara. In the year 2016 she became the Vice Captain of the team and the Cricket team of Mahamaya emerged Champions at the Zonal Tournament and Runners-up at the Provincial tournament. Himashi’s best performance was 4 wickets for 38 runs against Wadduwa Central College and her highest score was 50 against Dudley Senanayake Vidyalaya in the year 2018 and she played under Udeshika Madumali and Himashi was awarded college colours.
She was selected to the Women’s District team in 2018 along with Udara Bandara and Shini Senaratne.Once the country comes back to normalcy she wants to start Cricket again seriously.
