SLC says 3 former players under ICC corruption probe

The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit is investigating three former Sri Lankan players over alleged corruption, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has stated in a media release yesterday.

The SLC statement comes in the wake of the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Dullas Alahapperuma mentioning about an investigation launched by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit against three former Sri Lanka players and not the current national players as reported by several media institutions (not ANCL).

The Sports Minister had referred to the ongoing investigation during an event held on Tuesday where SLC granted a one-time payment for School Cricket Coaches, who were financially affected by the Covid-19.

"What the honourable minister actually mentioned was about an investigation launched by the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit against three former Sri Lanka players and not the current national players," SLC said in a statement.
