Sathyanganie excels in martial arts

Fifteen-year-old K.M. Sathyanganie, a Grade 11 student of Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy has been studying Martial Arts at Zen Buda Martial Arts Academy, an International Martial Arts facility for some years.  She is an accomplished Martial Arts sportswoman and has participated in numerous championships

and won several Martial Arts Competitions.

Sathyanganie has participated in the Sri Lanka  Muaythai Championship and won the Silver Medal in 2017 under43 kg. weight class, Gold Medal in 2018 under 44 kg. weight class, and another Gold Medal in 2019 under 45 kg. weight class. She was also awarded a Gold medal for Under 18 Best Sportswoman at the Sri Lankan Muaythai Championship this year too and a Special Trophy was awarded to her by Major General Manoj Madanayake of the Sri Lanka Army at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Her teacher is P.U. Dharshana de Silva, who is currently holding a Grade 6 Black Belt and her organization Chief Consultant is Scottish National Master Paul Mackwey who is currently an 8th Grade Black belt.  Sathyanganie was selected to take part in this year’s  Muaythai World Championships scheduled to be

held in Thailand but has been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
