CPRFU (Central Province Rugby Football Union) is keen to bring back rugby to its former position at provincial level. This union is headed by Tuan Zaruk Dole who led St. Anthony’s College to beat Trinity College for the first time in rugby in 1972.
The CPRFU is all out to put the game back in the Central Province when the green light is given after all sports activities had come to a halt due to the coronona virus.
Popularly known as Tuan from a sporting Malay family in Kandy, Tuan’s father Tuan Hajireen Dole was a Police officer and a prominent figure in boxing teams. Tuan’s brother Farook Dole, played rugby for the Kandy Lake Club, Kandy Sports Club and Up-Country. Tuan played for the combined schools team at the age of 16. In 1972 St. Anthony’s beat St. Joseph’s, St. Benedict’s, Kingswood, S. Thomas’, Thurstan and Trinity. They drew with St. Peter’s and lost to Royal. Tuan as a player, coach, referee, match commissioner, Sri Lanka Rugby and CPRFU has done his best to promote the game.
