Imeth Gampola star of unbeaten Sri Sumangala Panadura

Sri Sumangala College, Panadura had a fine first eleven cricket season in the under 19 Division Two tournament under Anuka Jayasinghe being unbeaten throughout winning nine matches out of twelve and 3 on first innings. They were strong contenders to enter the quarterfinals of the Inter-Schools Under 19 Division Two, two-day Cricket Tournament but lost to Holy Cross College, Kalutara. They however beat Holy Cross College in the one-day tournament.

Second year coloursman, wicket keeper and right hand middle order batsman Imeth Gampola played a vital role with the bat and behind the stumps by scoring 758 runs including two centuries and three half centuries with the top score of 165 runs versus Kalutara Vidyalaya and affected 23 victims behind the stumps. He played in two one-day games against arch rivals Moratu Vidyalaya scoring 14 and 56 in the pre-quarters versus Holy Cross College.

Imeth commenced his school cricket career captaining the under 13, 15 and 17 Division One teams. He played for Kalutara District in the Prima Cup and was a member of the Western Province South Outer Under 19 team. Last year he scored 430 runs in the first eleven cricket season. His coaches have been Amila Perera, Nishantha, Harsha Gunaratne, Rohan Soysa, Nisansala Mendis, Jayathu Nilaweera and this year Manoj Chanaka and his assistant Deshan Fernando. Former principal Dimuthu Deranagoda and master in charge Priyankara Nandasiri have extended their fullest support and guidance to him to come up the ladder.
