
Joseph Dilan of Sri Lanka Army won the inaugural Premier Carrom Academy Novices championships played at the Premier Carrom Academy in Welippillewa Ganemulla.
“This is the first time cash prizes were offered for this Novices tournament and it was highly successful,” said Premier Carrom Academy coach Dhammika Wijesinghe. “Our vision is to promote this sport and this is the first ever Carrom Academy in Sri Lanka. We are happy to see first five places of this Novices tournament won by soldiers.”
The champion Dilan received Rs. 25, 000 while runner up Charith Madshanka got Rs. 15, 000 in cash.
The third place was won by another soldier Anjula Kumara who received Rs. 10,000, while fourth and fifth places won by Prabath Kumara and Dushantha Wijesinghe. Lahiru Eshan of Navy was placed sixth, Chanaka Jeewan of Air Force seventh and Abhishek Jayawardena of Navy eighth.
More than hundred novices players participated in this inaugural tournament conducted by the Premier Carrom Academy.
