Professional Youth Club, Akkaraipattu emerged overall champions at the Akkaraipattu Divisional Youth Sports Festival 2019 held at the Public Playgrounds, Akkaraipattu recently.
The Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretariat Youth Services Officer ZameelulIlahi organized the programme. The meet saw members of the registered youth clubs affiliated to the National Youth Services Council taking part in various sports competitions at the sports festival.
The National Youth Services Council conducted the programme to promote goodwill and traditional sports in the Akkaraipattu DS division among youth with the support of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs Ministry.
The Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretary M.S.M. Razzan was the chief guest and Assistant Planning Director A.M. Thameem, Cultural Officer I.L. Rizwan, Skill Development Officer M. Haniffa and Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretariat Sports Officer R. Rafzan participated as the guests at the meet.
Team sports cricket, football, volleyball, beach volleyball, kabaddi, carom (singles), carrom (doubles), tug-of-war and elle along with athletic events were conducted. Youth from 15 registered clubs took part in the event.
Prizes and trophies for winners were distributed by the guests. All participated very keenly and enthusiastically.
