Fairfirst Insurance Limited, once again has put their hand up in support of MCA, sponsoring the MCA ‘F’ Division 25 –Over League Tournament 2019.
Originally, the tournament meant to commence on April 27 which was postponed, will now chug on this week-end, May 11, 12 with a match card of 18 half day matches.
The tournament is participated by 28 teams with Cash Wagon making their debut. The 28 participating teams were pooled into 04 groups, as follows.
Group ‘A’ : Asia Capital, Allianz Insurance, HSBC ‘C’, MAS Kreeda, McLarens Group, Softlogic Life and Fairfirst Insurance.
Group ‘B’: AMW, Union Bank, Mast Industrial, South Asia Gateway Terminal, Siam City Cement, Ansell Textile and Regnis Appliances.
Group ‘C’: Lion Brewery, John Keells ‘C’, Janashakthi Life, United Tractor, Courtaulds Clothing, Cash Wagon and Astron Limited.
Group ‘D’: Avery Dennison, Cargills Bank, Commercial Credit ‘C’ , Brandix Essentials ‘B’ , HNB ‘B’, Technomedics and Union Assurance The tournament will be conducted in two stages – the ‘League’, consisting 84 matches and the “Knock-out” consisting 15 matches.
The league stage will go on till June 22 and the knockout stage, the pre quarter finals on June 29; the quarter finals on July 06; the semifinals on July 13 and the final on July 20.
All matches will be supervised by a MCA appointed Match Referee; the on field Umpires will be assigned by the PCU and the score board scorers and the DLS Officials will be assigned by Sri Lanka Scorers Association.
All matches up to the final will be played with the ‘MB Malik-Royal’ ball, imported from Pakistan through local dealer. The MCA will supply the tournament balls to the teams at cost.
Special Awards: The Best Batsman, Best Bowler , Man of the Series and Man of the Final.
In the 2018 season, the Fairfirst Insurance Trophy offered for the first time was won by Brandix Essentials ‘B’ who beat Akbar Bros in the final at the MCA Grounds.
