A magnificent unbeaten chance less 151 runs by Shalin de Mel and a match bag of 10 for 54 (6/33 and 4/21) by Kalana Perera helped S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia to defeat Mahanama College Colombo by an innings and 119 runs in their inter school first eleven cricket match worked off at Mt. Lavinia.
Shalin had eleven hits to the ropes and seven over and faced 168 balls and he was ably supported by Manneesha Rupasinghe (82) and skipper Sithara Hapuhinna (53).
Batting first Thomians piled up 395 for 5 and declared and in reply visitors collapsed for a paltry 68 runs and following on Mahanama College did much better to score 208 runs with Pavantha Weerasinghe and Pathum Boteju scoring 60 and 62 runs respectively and Thomians were home for tea on day two.
