Senior Citizens (Over 50) Masters T20 League from Feb 3

The Senior Citizens (Over 50) inaugural Sri Lanka Masters T20 League quadrangular cricket tournament for the Dr. R.A.H. de Zoysa Challenge Shield will commence on February 3 at the Nationalized Services Cricket Association (NSCA) Grounds, Ratmalana.

The four cricket associations, namely Mercantile Cricket Association, (MCA), State Services Cricket Association (SSCA), Nationalized Services Cricket Association (NSCA) and Colombo Masters Cricket Association (CMCA) are believed to have gone into intensive fitness training for the past three weeks, also given their worn out pair of flannels for dry cleaning and have dusted their old pair of boots in preparation for the historic event.

The tournament which is the brainchild of former Anandian wicket-keeper/batsman and founder of Colombo Masters Cricket Association (CMCA) Mahes de Zoysa in 2017 to provide an opportunity to over 50 cricket enthusiasts to perform their talents.

They are expecting to form a senior citizen cricket team from mercantile institutions in the country and hope to conduct a tournament with South African senior citizens team in 2020. The event will be held annually and they expect teams will increase in the future.

The quadrangular will be continued on February 8 and 17 at the Bloomfield grounds and the two finals, including the play off for the third place will be held on February 24 at the MCA grounds.

Afternoon: Nationalized Services Vs. Colombo Masters

February 24 at MCA grounds

Morning: Play off for third place

Afternoon: Final

AD Sports Corner will provide the cricket gears while Atlas Hall will sponsor for the Dr. R.A.H. De Zoysa Challenge Shield.
