Old Anandian cricketer Sajith dies

Former Ananda College leg spinner Sajith Rupasinghe passed away in Australia and his funeral will take place in Melbourne, Australia. The 40-year-old Rupasinghe, the Vice Captain of the Ananda College Colombo under 19 team was the main spinner of the team during 1997-1998 school cricket season.

After leaving school Sajith joined Ragama SC and Moratuwa SC. He played only 19 first class matches in the domestic tournament. Later he gave his service as a qualified coach. He has obtained Australia level one and level two qualification as a coach and served Melbourne clubs.

He was a dedicated coach and one time helped his school Ananda College as the under 19 Assistant coach.

He was one of the best leg spinners Ananda has produced under the guidance of veteran coach Anuruddha Polonnowita.
