Former cycling champion passes away in Australia

Former national cyclist and General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Cycle Federation, Patrick Happuarachchi has passed away and his funeral service will take place on 15 February at 9.30 am at Burpengary Chapel in Birsbane, Australia after allowing the public to pay their last respect between 8am and 9.30am.

Burial will take place at Caboolture and district lawn Cemetery, Deception Bay, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Patrick a former Sri Lankan cycling champion was also the former secretary and pioneer member of Wing Wheel and Flying Wheel Cycle clubs and did yeoman service as secretary of the Gampaha District Cycling Association . He was working at the UN office. He was always a very dedicated official of the Cycling Federationn for the promotion of the sport.

Patrick migrated to Australia a few years back to settle down with his family. He leaves behind wife Ramona Carmel, son Shirley and daughter Shayamali. His remains lie at No. 30, Midgley Street, Dakabin, Queensland, 4503, Australia.

There will be a mass for his departed soul, followed by an alms giving at Patrick’s home in Kandana at 11am on 15 February. - (D.R.)
