Anoma senior lecturer in sports science

Anoma Ratnayaka

M.K.A Anoma Ratnayaka who is a past pupil of Sanghamitha College, Galle has been appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

She is best known for serving her academic work as a Member of International Advisory Board of International Federation of Physical Education, Fitness and Sport Science Association, Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Health, Physical Education and Computer Science in Sport and also as the Editorial Board Member of Asian Journal of Physical Education and Computer Science. Anoma was also one of the former Vice President for the National Basketball Federation in Sri Lanka and was awarded the ‘Presidential Sports Award Runner- Up’ for being the most outstanding sports academic of the year 2015.

At present, she is also working as the Provisional National Course Director National Olympic Committee, Sri Lanka.

“Sri Lanka is known for its participation in a variety of sports in national and international level, however, when it comes to Sports Education not everyone has a keen interest in sport management, sport sciences etc. I feel like it is my job as a sports lover myself to encourage everyone who engages in various sports fields and people who have chosen sports as a profession to pursue a degree in Sports Education which is available at University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. This is highly recommended for youth athletes for the betterment of their future. I believe as citizens of Sri Lanka, it is our duty to let the world know what our country has to offer and many more in terms of sports” said Anoma Ratnayaka.
