Dehiattakandiya Divisional Secretariat Division emerged champions winning 15 golds, 13 silvers and 09 bronze medals in the Ampara District Sports Festival-2018 which was conducted by the Ampara District Secretariat and worked off at Palamunai Public Play Grounds recently.
Ampara Addl. District Secretary K.Vimalanathan presided over the sports festival while 20 Divisional Secretariat divisions from the Ampara district took part.
Ampara Divisional Secretariat Division was second with 15 golds, 09 silvers and 07 bronze and the Uhana DS division was placed third with 07 golds and 06 bronze
This sports festival was organized by Ampara District Secretariat Sports Officer M.I.M. Ameer Ali. Parliamentarian A.L.M. Nazeer was the chief guest and former Eastern Province Minister M.S.Udumalebbe, Eastern Province Sports Department Director N.Mathivannan, Addalaichenai Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman A.L.Amanullah, Vice-Chairman M.S.Jowfer, Sammanthurai Divisional Secretary S.L.M. Haniffa, Addalaichenai Divisional Secretary T.J. Athisayaraj and many others participated.
Prizes and certificates for winners were distributed by the guests.

Athletic Champions (Men) – Sainthamaruthu Divisional Secretariat emerged champion with5 golds, Runner up- Dehiattakandiya DS division with 05 golds and Addalaichenai DS division was placed third with 4 golds.
Athletic Champions (Women) – Ampara Divisional Secretariat Division emerged champions with 9 golds. Runner up - Dehiattakandiya Divisional Secretariat division with 8 golds and Uhana Divisional Secretariat division was placed third with 3 golds.
