The 50th Battle of the Blues cricket match between Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda and Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda ended in a draw at De Soysa Stadium Moratuwa yesterday.
Devananda made a grand recovery from 96-7 overnight to overhaul Dharmasoka’s first innings total of 159.
They eventually scored 175 with the main contribution coming from no. 4 batsman Kavindu Sohan who scored an unbeaten 83 off 189 balls with 7 fours and a six in 254 minutes.
Shohan and Charith Rukshan added 44 for the ninth wicket. Right arm medium pacie Lasith Kumara took 5 wickets for 21 runs in 13 overs win 5 maidens.
Dharmasoka scored 94 for 7 wickets declared in their second innings and set Devananda a target of 79 runs to win. By the close Devananda scored only 2 runs for 3 wickets in 4 overs.
Kavindu Shohan (Sri Devananda) won the man of the match and best batsman awards and Lasith Kumara (Dharmasoka) and Ravindu Rashantha (Dharmasoka) took the best bowler and best fielder awards respectively.
